Children’s favourites Toopy and Binoo will be performing their live stage show “Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Moon” on Saturday, May 25 at the Mile One Centre in St. John’s at 1 p.m.
“Toopy and Binoo and the Marshmallow Man” bring the two fun-loving characters to life. Their unpredictable adventures are driven by their out-of-this-world imaginations.
A news release notes that as Toopy and Binoo prepare for their most important musical journey yet, they run into a Blue Cat Blues Band, a Loud Mouth Crooner Fish, some Adorable Sheep, a pair of Love Struck Dragons and many other characters along the way.
The show will incorporate music, theatre, dance, puppetry and multimedia technology to help with the imagination of the whole family. It is put on by Koba Entertainment, the company behind other theatrical productions such as “The Backyardigans: Quest for the Extra Ordinary Aliens and Max & Ruby in the Nutcracker Suite.”
The show includes award-winning choreographer Patti Caplette as writer and director, the creative team includes JUNO Award winner Norman Foote as co-writer and music director, Andrew Beck as scenic designer, Luc Lavergne as video designer, and costume designs from Maydwell Mascotts, Sue Dicks Design, and Anne Armit and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet wardrobe department.
“Toopy and Binoo” is based on the best-selling children’s books by Dominique Jolin. The duo made their television debut in 2005, quickly making their way into the hearts of children in many countries, on networks such as Treehouse TV (Canada), Tiji (France), Rai Sat (Italy) and Sun TV (India).
Toopy and Binoo is the top-rated program for kids aged 2 to 6.
