The public is being warned not to consume a type of deli meat wrapped around mozzarella cheese because it may be contaminated with Listeria.

Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. is recalling Formaggio brand Artisan Wraps Italian Style Meats around Fresh Mozzarella.

The product is distributed by Costco in Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador.

It was sold in 675 gram packages with best before dates between Feb. 13 and March 11.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the product so far.

Food contaminated with Listeria may not look or smell spoiled but eating it can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.

Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

Deli meat is bad for you - no matter how you slice it! Seriously folks, stop eating crap food preserved and sterilized with nasty chemicals, and then pretending you don't know the risk it puts you at for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, even depression and ADHD. Eat some real foods - natural, unprocessed plants - and stop destroying your bodies and wasting government medicare dollars on treating you for pollutants that you consciously consumed. Eat crap and your body will be crap. Eat real food, and you'll be healthier and happier!
