Man charged with armed robbery after fleeing store on pedal bike

The RNC has charged Darryl Leo Hunt, 28, of C.B.S. in connection with an armed robbery at a business on the Conception Bay South Highway Wednesday evening.

About 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, the RNC officers responded Mae’s Variety where a masked male suspect had entered the store and demanded cash before fleeing the scene on a pedal bike.

There were no injuries sustained during the incident.

RNC patrol services officers cordoned off the area and were successful in flushing the suspect out of hiding. A foot chase ensued which resulted the suspect being caught.

Charges include armed robbery, disguise with intent, trespassing at night and breach of court order.

The accused appeared in provincial court today today. He consented to being remanded into custody until his next court appearance April 3.

    There's a new they're trying to spread out there for this sort of contraption...it's "bicycle". I know!....weird, right?
