Police seeking witnesses to downtown assault

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is seeking witnesses to an assault on a 46-year-old man in a downtown St. John’s residence Wednesday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., members from RNC patrol services responded to a complaint about a disturbance.

Police say a man was transported to hospital and remains there with serious injuries.

No arrests have been made at this time and the matter is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). People can also provide information anonymously on the N,L. Drug houses in this area of town has been a problem for quite some time. They should be all closed down and the landlords who rent to these people should have some responsibility of overlooking these properties and making sure there is no disturbance to the neighbors. People deserve to live in a safe environment. There are small children in the area who are exposed to all this activity and would certainly, in my opinion, have a lasting effect on these innocent children.
