Nominations close March 31 for NL volunteer hall of fame

The deadline for receipt of nominations for the 2013 Newfoundland and Labrador Volunteer Hall of Fame induction is March 31, it was announced today.

Nomination forms are available at the Volunteer Hall of Fame website: www.volunteerhalloffame.ca

A news release notes the Newfoundland and Labrador Volunteer Hall of Fame honours and documents the efforts individuals and organizations that make long-standing volunteer contributions to their communities and the province.  

A maximum of eight inductees (not more than two posthumously) per year will be named with nominations from two categories — Individuals; Organizations or Non-Profit Groups.

Successful inductees will be announced during Volunteer Week, April 21-27, 2013, and the induction gala will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland on Oct. 4, 2013.

Last year’s inductees included: Margot Reid of St. John’s; Malcolm “Max” Winters of Goose Bay; Geoffrey Carnell of St. John’s; Noel Rideout of Gander; Vera Perlin (posthumous); Brother Jim McSheffrey (posthumous); The Community Sector Council of Newfoundland and Labrador; and The East Coast Trail Association.
