A 26-year-old Makkovik man has been charged with impaired driving of a snowmobile for the second time this year.

On Wednesday, Makkovik RCMP received a complaint of a male driving drunk in the community at approximately 7 p.m. The local RCMP, with the assistance of the Labrador RCMP Relief Team, located the male driving a snowmobile a short time later and he was subsequently arrested for impaired driving.

Further investigation revealed the accused had over three times the legal amount of alcohol in his blood.

Due to the number of complaints from the community regarding the accused, the RCMP said it seized the man’s snowmobile for the safety of residents of the community.

The man has a court date of April 23.
