RNC make arrest in armed robbery investigation

The RNC has charged a 23-year-old man in connection with an armed robbery at a commercial business on Merrymeeting Road in St. John’s Monday.

About 4:30 p.m. Monday, officers from the RNC’s patrol services, K9, forensic identification services and the criminal investigation division responded to an armed robbery at Needs Convenience on Merrymeeting Road.

The male suspect entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene. There were no injuries during the commission of the offence.

The accused is charged with armed robbery and disguise with intent.

He was arrested late Tuesday evening and held for provincial court today.

The investigation into this armed robbery is continuing.
