The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary charged a 27- year-old woman with assault Wednesday night following an altercation at a downtown St. John's hotel.
Police say the victim and the accused are known to each other. Because the accused is not a resident of the province, she was detained in custody to appear in court this morning.
A 31-year-old man was also charged with theft and breach of a court order in the Ropewalk Lane area Wednesday night. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
And, around 2:30 a.m. this morning, a 35-year-old man was arrested in Torbay for failing to pay a taxi fare, assault and uttering threats. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
