A 19-year-old woman was arrested Easter Sunday and charged with assaulting a police officer and causing a disturbance following an incident on George Street.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s overnight report, police were called to respond to an assault at a club on the popular St. John’s street at approximately 2:55 a.m.
Upon arrival, police encountered one person who allegedly became aggressive towards them by shouting, swearing and spitting. Police said the incident did not result in any injuries.
The arrested woman was due to appear in Weekend and Statutory Holidays Court Sunday morning.
