San Jose Sharks forward Ryane Clowe could be a Philadelphia Flyer by the end of the day Monday, sources say.

Clowe, 30, is in the final year of a deal that pays him a pro-rated $3.625 million this season. He is due to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

Media reports have indicated the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins and New York Rangers have expressed interest in Clowe, but sources say the Flyers have jumped in the mix and a deal sending the big winger to Philadelphia is all but done.

The Fermeuse-born, Mount Pearl-raised Clowe and the Flyers have already worked out a new multi-year contract, another source said. Clowe broke in with the Sharks in 2005-06, and has 423 career NHL games under his belt. Twice he has hit the 20-goal mark, and finished with 19 in 2009-10. He has 567 career NHL penalty minutes.

Organizations: Flyers, San Jose Sharks, NHL Montreal Canadiens Vancouver Canucks Boston Bruins New York Rangers

Geographic location: Philadelphia, Fermeuse, Mount Pearl

@Robert. The Flyers are 2 points out of a playoff spot, last i checked that was a contending team. Even if the Flyers fail to make the playoffs this year, they still are a playoff contending team every year and it would only be the 2nd time in 20 years, I believe, that the Flyers would miss the playoffs. So all that said, I think we will see Clowe in a Flyers jersey by the end of this week

Clowe has agreed to waive his NTC as long as whatever team he is traded to signs a new contract with him. It seems his only request is that he doesn't want to be a rental.

Sharks would be happy to unload a high paid non producing player like Clowe.

It's 2013, and $3 Million dollars isn't even a Mediocre NHL salary to complain about these days.

Makes sense if the Flyers are planning on buying out Briere over the summer. Also, I could see them trading away Sean Couturier as well, as he has had a brutal year, and they have had a lot of interest for him from other teams. They are only 2 points out of a playoff spot right now, so to say they are a lock to miss is premature. It will be tough though considering all the injuries they have right now. If they do happen to make it, they will need to fill the spot that Talbot has left due to his broken leg.

He has a NTC. Can't see him agreeing to be moved to a non contending team, a lock to miss the playoffs. Surely Clowe will veto any such move?
