Two men and a youth have been arrested by Port Saunders RCMP in connection with damage to fishing vessels in the area on the Easter weekend.

According to police, a report was received Sunday of extensive damage to a fishing vessel docked at the Port au Choix government wharf near the Department of Fisheries and Oceans building.

The RCMP said throughout the investigation, it was learned that there had been a number of other fishing vessels also damaged over the weekend and several items were stolen from these vessels. Within days, police were able to identify and arrest three suspects and successfully recover some of the stolen property.

The three suspects were later released from custody and are scheduled to appear at Port au Choix provincial court in July.

The RCMP said an investigation into these incidents is continuing.
