Eastern Health announced Sunday that only immediate family members are being permitted to visit residents of a nursing home in Carbonear due to an increase in gastrointestinal illness.
Those who intend to visit residents of Harbour Lodge Nursing Home are advised to contact the facility directly for further instructions on planning a visit.
The regional health authority said in a news release that gastrointestinal illnesses are common at this time of year. It advised people to avoid visiting health-care facilities if they are experiencing flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms.
Visitor restrictions are also in place at Placentia Health Centre and Lions Manor Nursing Home in Placentia, with only immediate family members permitted to visit patients or residents.
