I thought tail-gating was having a beer party on on the tail gate of my pickup at the ball game. Learn something new every day.

Drivers who tailgate are the biggest menace on our roads , followed closely (pardon the pun ) by speeders.

Ridiculous drivers here. Too bad St.John's doesn't have a police force or they would make a fortune ticketing this on the ORR. Oh wait - nah, the RNC has zero presence on the streets in St. john's. Zero.

I have been driving 43 years with no accidents. I know what tailgating is and don't like it. The story says the RCMP responded to an accident so that means they were not there. Just not sure how they can prove it in court. You can drive the required distance behind a car and not be tailgating but if he stops suddenly and you can't, you have an accident. You are responsible for the damage but it may not be from tailgating. Think you can understand that???

Yes, you moron...tailgating is an offense. They inforce or apply the law when the idiot that is tailgating is involved in an accident i.e. can't stop the vehicle and "rear ends" the vehicle in front of him/her.

Charged with tailgating?? How did they prove that? If they are going to enforce this, they will need a lot more police cars.
