Brian Tobin actually did something to protect our natural resource (fish), he sent people out to arrest a Spanish fleet in international waters accused with illegal over-fishing, causing shit to hit the fan (Spain was not happy about that, but too bad Spain!). That takes balls and I applaud this guy for standing up for us. Anyone who hates him is not very smart and should read up on history to see that Newfoundland was doomed to fail before it even became Newfoundland (seriously). This is the only guy in the history who was smart enough to stand up for us. How about a little positive people? YOU GO BRIAN TOBIN!!

Not much of a premier when he was here. Screwed over a lot of public servants with regards to pension transfers when harmonization. Was introduced to the province in 1997. I personally lost credit for 2.5 years. Tobin is nothing but a opportunist and also quite an actor..... Very happy to see he no longer conciders. NFLD his home.
- More Evidence Not To Trust The Banks

He is so thick I doubt he could spell "economics". It says an awful lot when a blowhard with no real credentials becomes Vice Chair of the Bank of Montreal. Time to switch banks for me!
- I ask questions every day of my life on why our politicians gave away our raw natural resources and why the News Media didn't bring them to task for it.
- April 18, 2013 - 10:19
Foghorn, I ask questions everyday of my life on how a person such as this was allowed to get away with having one of the greatest Nickel Ore bodies in the World developed from our province and was allowed to allot the coveted Nickel Ore to two Canadian cities, Sudbury, Ontario and Thompson, Manitoba in order that these two cities could prosper, while our province which was already suffering from lack on an economy was left out in the cold? When are the news media of this province going to ask the same questions? Is it because they do not want to get on the bad side of Ottawa? I am sick of reading the news from this province with no substance as it pertains to our overall economic health, why did we give away everyone of our natural resources in the raw state and why haven't the News Media pointed this out. News Editors you have to fill the need on this subject or nothing will ever change in this province. It appears to me that the politicians of Newfoundland and Labrador have had no opposition on the subject of raw natural resource give-away and, as a result, they think they can do what they damn well like as long as they have a majority. All they think about is having the natural resources developed in a way where their pockets get padded along with the Corporation that becomes the primary beneficiary of the resource. Politicians know if they conform to Ottawa's needs they will be looked after for the rest of their lives.
- There is Hope Foghorn if you have the Gall and the Nerve to do what some politicians are willing to do.

FOGHORN, Absolutely there would be much hope if you or I could take control of one of Newfoundland and Labrador's natural resources, at the behest of Ottawa and had it developed solely for the purpose of keeping economies going in Central Canada. If you or I did that we would have had scores of appointments to big Canadian and U.S. Corporations, in such positions as CEOs, Vice-President and to the Board of Directors. My question is how is it that a politician can have the Gall or Nerve to become our leader and do such a dastardly deed? We, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, were always unsuspecting people, who elected our politicians immediately put them on auto pilot with our trust and expected them to provide good governance over our natural resource base and thought they would make sure that if a resource was developed under their watch, the primary beneficiary would have been the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, itself. Also, How stupid for people to think we can have a working economy without us being the sole beneficiary of our resources? Without us being the beneficiary of our natural resources, we would need a miracle worker, like Jesus who is purported to have fed a host of people with five fish and a little water. Great economies are only created through the processing and manufacturing of ones resources that provide jobs for the electorate and the resulting wealth. When are we going to wake up in Newfoundland and Labrador to the corruption that is swirling around us? If we don't wake up we have to STOP the grumbling and pack up and leave it all to Ottawa!

Hey, if there is one thing you can say, not bad for a guy with a high school diploma and a background as a radio broadcaster! Maybe there is hope for many of us after all. NOT!

Now I have to think about changing banks. How does he get these jobs?? He didn't impress me as the premier.
