Vehicle fire in Mount Pearl damages nearby homes

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a vehicle fire early this morning that damaged a pickup truck, a quad ATV and siding on two nearby homes in Mount Pearl.

According to police, the fire was reported around 3 a.m..

There were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.

RNC fire investigation and forensic services are investigating.

Also, around 5:30 a.m. today, patrol officers responded to a break and entry in progress into a home the area of Bells Turn in St. John's.

Police say the homeowners were at home at the time and confronted a man inside the residence.

The suspect managed to get free from the homeowner, but was arrested a short time later by RNC members.

There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident. The man was held in custody until a court appearance.

At 12:30 a.m. today, RNC patrol officers also responded to the area of Black Head in St. John's in response to a call of a possible impaired driver.

Police say the vehicle reported was located and a man was subsequently charged with impaired driving. He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

    On another news channel it said that the house and vehicles were firebombed. In Mt.Pearl. Apparently a corrections officer was targeted. These guys don't get paid enough to work at HMP while the rest of us sleep securely in our beds oblivious to the criminal element in our province.
