The Health Care Foundation hosted a ceremony this afternoon to award $50,000 worth of items to 25 hospital units as part of its Comfort in Care grant program.

The program provides funding for items which enhance patient care and well-being. Eastern Health employees in one of the five adult hospitals in St. John’s, can access Comfort in Care funding through a grant application process.

Grants awarded today included a flatscreen television, mounting hardware and selection of DVDs for West 3A of the Waterford Hospital; high back chair for 4 North B of the General Hospital; assortment of prints for 3 West of St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital; guitar, piano keyboard and crafts for the Centre for Pain and Disability Management of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre; and a blanket warmer for the Dr. Walter Templeman Centre.

“The Comfort In Care program recognizes that the “little things” often mean so much for patients and their families,” Paul Snow, President and CEO of the Health Care Foundation said.

“We don‟t always think something small is good or important, but it is. The Comfort In Care program has grown tremendously since it started and it will continue to grow as we look to further enhance patient comfort and care.”
