Confusion reigned today at Beachy Cove Elementary in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s following a dispute between the school and its school bus company.

A school board official described the situation as a labour dispute with the bus company over allegations about a driver’s behaviour this morning.

When students were dismissed at the end of the day, bus drivers refused to take them home.

A separate bus company was contacted and sent buses to take children home later in the afternoon.

Some parents were called to pick up their children, others arrived not knowing what was happening.
