A 22-year-old Corner Brook man — an employee of a company contracted by Canada Post — has been charged with theft from mail and possession of stolen property from an incident in March.

On March 19, members of the RNC were called to the business on Humber Road in Corner Brook where an employee had discovered a quantity of undelivered mail in a dumpster on the property.

It was determined that unknown quantities of cash, as well as gift cards, had been taken from the mail.

The RNC criminal investigation division, with the assistance of the forensic identification section, continued the investigation leading to the arrest of the accused Tuesday.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on June 25.

Thank goodness for the Constabulary as Canada Post Security & Investigation would never have caught him as they are no longer in the business of criminal investigations. Due to budgetary constraints, the once venerable investigative body merely conducts preventive security audits and keep their collective heads in the sand regarding incidents of deviance.
