Thefts and assaults keep RNC busy

The RNC responded to 225 calls over a 24 hour period on the weekend.

At 12:30 p.m. on Friday, officers responded to a theft complaint at a grocery store in St John’s.  A 30-year-old female was arrested for Theft and Breach of Court Order. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

 

At 9:15 p.m., police were called to a retail store inside the Avalon Mall. A 60-year-old female was charged with one count of Theft under $1000. She was released to attend court at a later date.

 

At 10:00 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a Seal Cove residence. One adult male received minor injuries and a 42-year-old male was arrested for three counts of Assault. He was held for Court.

 

At 10:25 p.m., the RNC and Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department responded to a shed fire in Pouch Cove. The shed was extensively damaged and is suspicious in nature. There were no injuries.

 

At 11:30 p.m., patrol members responded to a disturbance at a Mount Pearl residence. A 28-year-old female was charged with Assault. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

 

At 3:07 a.m., Saturday morning, police responded to an alarm at the Orange Store Commonwealth Avenue at Brookfield Road. It was discovered that at least two persons entered the premises through the front door and left on foot with a quantity of beer. Patrol members were assisted by K9 and searched the area. A quantity of product was recovered. There also may have been an SUV style vehicle involved in the theft.

 

At 3:30 a.m., police responded to a moose-vehicle collision on the Manuels Access Road 2 km west of the TCH. There were three occupants in the vehicle. There were no injuries but the vehicle received moderate damage and was towed.

 

At 3:51 a.m., police conducted a traffic safety stop in the area of Newfoundland Drive. The 26-year-old female operator was been charged with Impaired Driving. She wa released to attend court.

 

At 4:00 a.m., the RNC and CBS Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on the rail bed in Seal Cove, CBS. A full size pick-up was destroyed by fire. The fire is under investigation. The RNC is asking anyone with information on this incident to call the RNC or Crimestoppers.
