This was the scene Sunday at St. John's harbour, where human remains were found.
The RNC has confirmed the identity of the body found in St. John’s harbour Sunday afternoon and say foul play is not suspected in the man’s death.
Next of kin have been notified.
The RNC is providing assistance to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to help establish the cause of death. RNC officers are continuing the investigation.
Human remains were found in St. John’s harbour late Sunday afternoon and the cause of death has not been determined.
According to a news release issued by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the deceased person is an adult male.
A report came in to police shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday concerning the discovery, which was made from the north side of the harbour behind Atlantic Place.
A fast rescue craft belonging to Maersk Supply Services was used to retrieve the human remains. An Eastern Health ambulance was witnessed leaving the scene shortly after 5 p.m. with emergency lights blinking.
The RNC will now work with the office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death. Police said further updates will be provided as they become available.
