Internet access is not restricted to the home computer. I know of several kids between the ages of 9 and 13 who have their own cellphones! They can then access the Internet from anywhere, anytime. They are on Facebook (give false DOB to get accounts) late into the night and chatting on the phone because they have the cellphones under the covers in their bedrooms and parents are oblivious as to what is going on. The most important job of a parent is to "parent". Many parents surrender their responsibility for various reasons, i.e., because they want to be the "cool parent" or because " all the kids have phones these days", distracted with their own problems, or maybe they are naive about what's attracting their kids. We're talking about kids, their concept of danger and inappropriate behaviour is not as developed as the adults who are responsible for raising them. They could easily find themselves in over their heads without proper guidance and supervision.
