A St. John’s man who got turned around on the first day of fishing season has been found safe and healthy.
At approximately 3:30 Wednesday afternoon, the Holyrood RCMP received an assistance call from the RNC pertaining to a lost fisherman. The 76-year-old male had made a call indicating he was turned around a couple of kilometers inland from Deer Park near the Salmonier Line.
The man called from a cell phone and said that he was doing fine and staying put. He also said he had food and water when the phone signal was lost.
With the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and Ground Search and Rescue, the RCMP located the missing male in good health.
