The trial for a man and woman charged in relation to an armed robbery in Cowan Heights in St. John’s last winter has been set for July.
Amanda Murphy and Julien Squires appeared via video link at provincial court this morning. They were shown on split screen — Squires from Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John’s and Murphy from the women's correctional institute in Clarenville.
Defence lawyer Arnold Hussey was in court for Squires and Kevin Baker for Murphy.
The lawyers and Crown prosecutor Danny Vavasour agreed to schedule the trial for July 22-23.
Squires and Murphy are both charged with two counts of robbery on two men arising from the Cowan Heights incident that was said to have happened on Jan. 18.
Squires and Murphy allegedly responded to an ad on a classified website and arranged to meet the seller of the item being advertised.
The armed robbery took place at the location in Cowan Heights where the parties agreed to meet.
Police say one of the suspects was said to have had a knife and the other had a club-like object.
