RNC Supt. James Carroll to receive the Order of Merit of the Police Forces today in Ottawa.

Carroll is one of 47 police officers from across Canada to be appointed Member of the Order of Merit of Police Forces at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

The investiture into the order recognizes exceptional performance of duty over an extended period of time at the local, regional and provincial levels.

The Order of Merit of the Police Forces was created in 2000 to recognize conspicuous merit and exceptional service by members and employees of Canadian police forces whose contributions extend beyond protection of the community.

There are three levels of membership which reflect long-term, outstanding service: Commander (C.O.M), Officer (O.O.M) and Member (M.O.M).
