The provincial government has announced a new three-point ferry schedule between Little Bay Islands, Long Island, and Pilley’s Island.

The new schedule goes into effect Monday and drops Shoal Arm as a port of call.

“Our decision to remove Shoal Arm from the Green Bay ferry service was made following a comprehensive review of the demand for service and ferry utilization and in consultation with local ferry user committees,” Transportation Minister Paul Davis said in a release today.

“We are in the process of reviewing all ferry services to identify opportunities for efficiencies while ensuring that we continue to provide service to communities that rely on marine transportation.”

The ferry service will continue to be provided to residents of Little Bay Islands and Long Island via the terminal port of Pilley’s Island.

This makes sense! Why do we need 2 ports on the mainland part of the island for this service? The route has a new ferry too so that should help.
