UPDATE: RNC rearrests escaped prisoner

Robert Ross Gould escaped police custody this morning in Corner Brook.

A Corner Brook prisoner escaped police custody Monday shortly after being arrested, according to a news release from the RNC. He has since been arrested again.

Robert Ross Gould, 31, for whom provincial court had issued an arrest warrant, was first taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.

While being held for a court appearance, Gould was brought to Western Memorial Regional Hospital after asking for medical attention. The prisoner escaped while waiting in hospital and got away on foot.

Police said Monday evening he was likely in the Massey Drive area of Corner Brook. Police searched for Gould all day.

Near midnight, the RNC sent out a news release confirming the prisoner was back in custody. RNC Const. Scott Mosher said in the release, “The arrest was a direct result of the assistance provided by the media and the public. The RNC would like to thank the media and the general public for their assistance in this matter.”

Police say he is likely in the Massey Drive area of Corner Brook. The RNC has been searching for him all day.

Gould is described in the news release as 5-11, 165 pounds with short blond hair and blue eyes. He has “ROBERT” tattooed on his upper left arm and “MARY” tattooed on his neck. He was wearing a blue and grey plaid shirt, blue jeans, grey sneakers and a white watch when he got away.

    Seems like this has been an all too common story lately. Perhaps the RNC need to improve their security?
