JACKSON, how wrong you are on Tha Gateway. First, Mayor French didn't start this, Mayor Smith and the previous council before Mayor French and it was he who messed it up. The whole project was a go with other major stores wanting to come in, however the council of the day under Smith tried to nickle and dime it to death, turned the proponents off and left the mess for Mayor French to clean up. At least get your facts straight. It is you who needs Planning 101, and some skill in research before making your comments. Also, it isn't debt ridden, again check your facts, they are open to anyone. As for the construction a look at the town plan, and development plans show a great deal of planning went into each subdivision. Have you ever gone to a council meeting, or a plan ammendment or other such meeting, at appears not. Looks like you may be someone who is simply against development, the NIMBY type. Lern to research all sides first Jackson, you seemed to have missed so many facts.

Applauding all the working being done on the new section of the cbs bipass road. I think that one bit has been forgotten. The next interchange west of legion rd. is lawrence pd. rd. A very narrow road. I dont see any one thing being done to upgrade that rd. I fear for the people who like to walk and jogg in the area there. Such a beautful area.

Hi all, Hmmm CBS?? What are we to do? I remember being in a Municipal planning session in or about the 90's and after much discussion and pontificating a learned gentleman said, CBS , ( Just imagine who would name their Town That!), Many irregularities and zoning issues are continually violated and ignored , the community has a propensity to need a shed larger than their house?? A day or two later I ran into the same man who enquired about the name and he Declared, " I have the solution to Zoning and development in "CBS"..... " Torch It and Start over,,,,,,,,,,,,, Never too late , ,,, it is a complete mess. See you at "KENTS"...... LOL ,,,,,,, Shed party 5 p.m. all invited!!!!! Go Shoeline NEWS, LOL. CBS won Hockey Town and could not put off the Game,,,, LOL what a joke ?

This will be great for all of CBS. Route 60 is becoming unbearable. The unfortunate part is the bypass road is way too narrow and it really should have been 4 lanes. I fear that the congestion will still force people down onto route 60 at peak times.

Glad to see the work well underway and near completion. I live close by the highway and to the new proposed trail, now if only the Town of CBS and Enforcement could crack down on the use of ATV's in this area. Especially in evenings and on Sundays. The trail near the river, the soil and hydro seed placed last spring is almost all but destroyed by the constant use and nuisance and noise of ATV 's and dirt bikes. I have given up calling and complaining because it doesn't make a difference. Despite recent new regulations. No one shows up.Sadly no one seems to care, unless of course it was in their backyard.

To James, all developemnt in CBS is regulated, where do you get your information at all! If you are not happy then move, I've been in the area for over 30 years, worked here in the area for all that time and love it out here. I don't have a plastic shack either, and really don't see many of them around, none in fact. People move here because they want to, those who don't like it move out. CBS has been around for over 200 years, in various forms and towns, developing over time into one town, with regulations. You really should research a little more, and the column here is about making things better, taking trafic off the main road and making life out here a little easier to commute. Sounds like you are full of sour grapes. You obviously know little about the town history, how it developed over 200 years or more and how urban planners are working to make the town well planned for the future. They can't do much about the historical growth in the early centuries, however they are working with today's growth and planning.

Peter if you're calling the hodge-podge of construction in CBS progress one of us needs to do some Planning 101. That multi million Gateway at the top of Legion Road is nothing but a wasteland of gravel pits and huge boulders. On any given day at Kent's there's more employee vehicles there than customers. French's multi-million dollar debt ridden boondoggle is still being flogged by a mainland P.R. firm without success. CBS's Muskrat Falls?

Life in a suburban slum sucks doen't it? 35 years knowing that that cheap neighbourhood where you built was slated for ongoing unregulated development... Everyone wants a plastic shack in the country, but everyone is pissed off that everyone else wants a plastic shack in the country. We plan and create ecological and social disasters, and then pretend that the problems were unforeseeable! Every urban planner and educated person in the world knows that CBS is a mess and knows that we are only making it worse and not better. So what should we do? We'll continue to follow development models that have been proven repeatedly to be unsustainable and unhealthy.

To James - my you're a happy CBS resident this morning.....maybe you should go take your happy pill and get out of CBS if your not happy there. There is a lot of beautiful homes in CBS they are not all plastic shacks as you say. You're obviously a pretty jealous person.
