Trinity Conception RCMP have re-arrested and charged a Carbonear man in connection with an attempted armed robbery May 14. Police responded to a call reporting a hold-up by a masked man wielding a knife at the Red Circle Convenience Store on Water Street in Carbonear. The man didn’t get any cash and fled the scene. The next day, May 15, Jonathan Richard Kent, 20, of Carbonear, was arrested in connection with the heist but was subsequently released without being charged. Today, the RCMP says, following more investigation, Ken was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted armed robbery, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He’s been released on a number of conditions and is due back in court in Harbour Grace Aug. 20.
