The RNC is continuing their investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of the Outer Ring Road in St. John’s.
On Sunday just after 11:00 a.m., the RNC responded to the report of a single vehicle collision on the Outer Ring Road. The incident occurred in the eastbound lane in the area between the Pitts Memorial Highway overpass and the Kenmount Road overpass. The RNC is continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision.
The vehicle travelling eastbound went off the road and over an embankment into a thickly wooded area. The single occupant of the vehicle, a 56-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The next of kin of the deceased are being notified and out of direct respect to the family members, the RNC will not be releasing the name of the deceased at this time.
The RNC closed the east bound portion of Outer Ring Road between the Pitts Memorial overpass and the Kenmount Road overpass while their investigation was being completed. The road is now open once again.

The RNC is currently on the scene of a single vehicle accident in the eastbound lane of the Outer Ring Road between the Kenmount overpass and the Pitts Memorial overpass. The vehicle was travelling in the eastbound lane when it went off the road and down over the embankment behind Donovan’s Industrial Park.
The injuries of the lone male occupant are serious. The eastbound lane of the Outer Ring Road from Manuel's Overpass Bridge to Donovan's Industrial Park is closed while the RNC continue their investigation.
