Traffic on Water Street in downtown St. John’s was tied up briefly this morning after a man was reported to have been hit by a pickup truck in front of Atlantic Place.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m.

Police officers and an ambulance arrived on the scene and the man was transported to hospital for what’s believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Only moments earlier, he was observing provincial court proceedings in Atlantic Place. A witness said the truck initially sped off and another man who witnessed the accident had to chase it down.

Traffic in the area is now moving again.
