Joe and Jack, seeing you know so much I trust you'll be first in line to work for fire and emergency services or volunteer with the red cross........ or is it more fun for you to sit back and criticize those who have to make the hard decisions??

Love the line they are feeding the media. People in Wabush are better off than those sent to Labrador City. the air is the same or worse now in Lab City than Wabush. The reason for the evacuation in the first place. The fire line has held and no one has been able to embarrass the local or provincial governments with the images of the "controlled" fire. That is the intent of the evacuation of Wabush and nothing more. The Province is at fault for this getting so out of hand, and the people that pay them are suffering for it as always. Time to hold our elected officials accountable for once.

Cliffs Natural Resources (Scully and Bloom) have been supporting emergency team with operators and heavy equipment, transportation, housing and food services and are still actively participating with the Red Cross / Town / Fiire dept. If we can be of additional support, Red Cross will contact us. Our thoughts are with you all.

For those of you who like to complain all the time, the water bombers have been flat out for days. However, because of conditions they have not been able to fly today, so it wouldn't matter how many we're there. I wish all the complainers would just stay away and let the people who are helping do so, and not get condemned for doing it. People had to leave Wabush for the air quality, not necessarily the fire. It's funny parts of Alberta is under water and you see people working together, not complaining or condemning anyone willing to help. We know you cannot please everyone. It is so stupid to think the government is not on top of this...they may have to make decisions that everyone does not agree with but everyone has been working hard at this. So people like Joe and Jack...go crawl back in under your covers again.

Two things here, the firefighting capabilities had been compromised by our defunct governement..Where are they,we haven't heard a word. Why is Dunderdale not pressuring Harper to get outside water bombers on the scene. The second mistake is you don't evacuate people in the night...you make the call earlier even if its not required but its looking like it will be an evacutaion notice. People are tired they have been up all day they want to sleep....No! We send out an evacuation order. What a bunch of unorganized dummys.

Unfortunately, no one cares what happens in Labrador...just a bunch of Newfies living in the middle of no where! If this were the Maritimes, or central or western Canada the media and multiple resources would be all over this. Just another brush fire in "Northern Quebec".......most folks outside of here do not even know Wabush exists. Do not wait for help, hope for the best, prepare for the worst and think old school. Be Safe Labrador, we are living in a tinder box!

Not true, James. I am in NB and we care, I heard other locals also discussing it and expressing concern. I know some people in ON who care. Don't be discouraged, pitch in and do what you can, and we'll pray for everyone concerned. And I hope our gov't sends resources to help.

I hope this fire will soon be under control. Why wouldn't the Province bring in boomers from the Province of Que. who have many that I've personally witnessed being serviced earlier this spring in Quebec City. No need for this to continue for so long. Can you imagine the cost to tax payers if it were to destroy the town.

They also need to enlist help from other provinces such as Nova Scotia or New Brunswick.

WHY does everything have to be Political ? WE have a fire that could destroy the town of Wabush ,homes cou ld be lost, jobs if a business is destroyed. Yet the 1st thing we read is (ITs the fault of the NL Gvnt). Parts of ALBERTA are under water -instead of blaming the Gvt they are (all) working together.

Maybe if the Newfoundland and Labrador Government made a more diligent effort to combat this fire, didn't sell their water bomber, and cut fire fighting staff, this fire would have been over by now, and Labrador would not suffer in the first place. This is one example of why Dunderdale has got to go.
