A report written for regional development proponent with the help of a rural development proponent. I wonder what conclusions it would come to. Nah, no need to read it.

It is patently obvious that governments and many of our citizenry have abandoned any real interest in rural communities, except during elections. Sure, they throw money at areas, sometime disproportionately, but these are band aid solutions to complex issues. The biggest issue, the one that irritates rural residents most, is the lack of consultation, collaboration, and cooperation by governments in responding to rural concerns. Sure, they pay lip service, and they do throw money at the greasy wheels, but they don't truly listen to, or have any faith in, people's ability to provide input and contribute to development in their own regions. To be fair, there are no easy solutions but killing rural areas by way of a thousand cuts....... smacks of an urban bias and a smugness that demonstrates the ignorance of how much these communities have, and will continue to continue to contribute, to the fabric of this province.
