Section of highway closed due to forest fire

Due to a forest fire in the vicinity of Gull Island in Labrador, approximately 80 km west of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, a portion of the Trans Labrador Highway will be closed until further notice.

The Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP said the road is closed from South Branch Road (18 km west of Happy Valley-Goose Bay), to Churchill Falls.

Route 510 to the south coast remains open.

The Department of Natural Resources is currently battling the forest fire in the area.
