Fire on Northern Ranger dealt with quickly, no injuries

The crew of the MV Northern Ranger responded to a fire today in the port shaft generator while enroute to Nain, the Department of Transportation and Works said.

The fire was extinguished.

All passengers were safely assembled at fire stations, as per standard procedure, and there were no injuries, a news release notes.

The Northern Ranger continued enroute to Nain and the contracted operator of the vessel, CAI Nunatsiavut Marine Inc., does not anticipate an interruption in service.
