I so agree with DISGUSTED. What a travesty! And in Newfoundland, above all places!

Social Worker #1 had a heart, empathy for her client Social Worker #2 did not, just collects her pay and does the minimal required of her job. We need rent control so people can afford to live a decent life.

This is an unfortunate truth about St. Johns. With the push in oil money and so called economic prosperity, the people of the province begin to show what really matters to them. Their own selfish bottom line. There was once a time when the people of Newfoundlander and Labrador were globally known as loving people to their own and to strangers. Yet when I look around St. Johns, seeing the homeless, the hungry, the sickness and the poverty, I wonder what has taken us to this point, and I feel ashamed to call myself a Newfoundlander. To all of you who would hold this mans source of income against him, and to those of you who charge outrageous rental rates to those who can barely make ends meet, there may come a time when you need someone, when your old, when your ill, when you have to rely on the kindness of others.....what will you do then?

If this gentleman has a signed lease, wouldn't it be beneficial for the new owner to honour that lease considering the buyer can use that rental income as justification? Are the even supposed to honour that lease when ownership transfers anyway?
