The RNC on the northeast Avalon received 245 calls for service in a 24-hour period.
At 3:00 p.m. Friday, the RNC responded to a complaint of theft at a business on Kelsey Drive. A 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft and breach of court orders.
At 4:18 p.m., the RNC conducted a vehicle safety stop in the area of Kelsey Drive. A 71-year-old male was arrested for driving while suspended. He was also charged with several offenses under the Highway Traffic Act and he owed over $11,000 in outstanding fines. His vehicle was seized and impounded. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
At 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of assault on Livingstone Street. A 27-year-old male was arrested for assault, malicious damage, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and breach of court order. He was conveyed to Her Majesty’s lockup to await a court appearance.
At 8:44 p.m., a traffic stop in the area of Kenmount Road resulted in the seizure of a radar detector. The 37-year-old male driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
At 11:15 p.m. Friday night, police responded to a report of a person smoking aboard a United Airline flight at St. John’s international Airport. A 15-year-old male was charged with smoking on an aircraft. He was released for court.
At 11:28 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Mount Pearl. As a result a 43-year-old male was arrested for assault and
held for court in the morning. There was no reported injuries.
At 12:05 a.m. police responded to a moose-vehicle collision in the area of St. Thomas Line and Paradise Road. There was no reported injuries but the moose had to be put down at the scene by wildlife officers.
At 2:15 a.m. police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Paradise. A 19-year-old female was transported to hospital for minor injuries. A 22-year-old male was arrested a short time later with the assistance of the RNC K9 unit. He was held for court on charges of assault causing bodily harm and breaches of court orders.
At 3:45 a.m., a 41-year-old male was charged with assault following a disturbance at a residence in the center of the city. He was detained for court.
