The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to 184 calls for service in 24 hours up to 4 a.m. this morning.
Around 1 a.m. today, RNC officers, along with firefighters from the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, responded to a fire at Burton’s Pond apartments at Memorial University. There was moderate damage to one apartment but no reported injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
At 1:04 a.m. patrol officers stopped a vehicle in the Parade Street area of St. John’s for failing to stop for a stop sign. Further investigation lead to a 21- year-old woman being charged with impaired driving and refusing the breathalyzer. She was held in custody until a court appearance.
At 2:20 a.m., RNC officers conducted a traffic safety stop on Pitts Memorial Drive. A 21-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving by drug. He was held in custody until a court appearance.
