10,000 customers affected by mid-day power outage
Power has been restored in St. John's and Mount Pearl areas affected by a power outage that began shortly after noon today.
Newfoundland Power spokeswoman Michelle Couglan said crews have repaired equipment at the Molloy's Lane substation in St. John's which caused the outage.
Up to 10,000 customers were without power due to the equipment failure. The power came back on shorly after 2 p.m.

About 10,000 customers are without power in St. John’s and Mount Pearl, Newfoundland Power spokeswoman Michelle Coughlan told The Telegram.
Newfoundland Power has identified a problem with equipment at its Molloy’s Lane substation in St. John’s.
Crews are onsite assessing damage.
The estimated restoration time is 4 p.m.
Coughlan said 8,500 customers are affected by the Molloy’s Lane equipment failure, and another 1,300 customers serviced by a feeder at the Glenddale substation in Mount Pearl.
Newfoundland Power is investigating a power outage that has affected a large area of the west-end of St. John's and Mount Pearl.
The outage has resulted in a number of traffic lights being out, causing the intersections to become four-way stops and slowing traffic during the noon-hour rush.
