Crews extinguish Beaumont Street house fire

Firefighters were quick to extinguish a house fire on Beaumont Street in St. John's late Tuesday evening.

When crews arrived they saw smoke coming from the house and had to force entry to the structure. Upon entry they encountered flames in the stairwell and quickly knocked the fire down.

The fire was under control about 12:30 a.m this morning. There's no indication of what may have started the fire at this time.

The house suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage. There was no one in the house at the time of the fire.

    This house was built in the early 1940's by my father Henry William Noseworthy where he and my mother raised 9 children. He lived here until he died in 1980. The house was purchased by Smith & Stockley and has been rented for the past 33 years.

    funny thing, i was thinking about renting this house when it was available before and decided against it. i had to look at the number on the mailbox in the video to be sure it was the same one and it was. sorry for the tennents having a fire but glad there was no one home at the time.
