RNC investigating assault with weapon, theft from vehicles

The RNC is investigating an assault with a weapon and a theft in the area of the Quidi Vidi Boathouse in St. John’s Wednesday, shortly before 6 p.m.

At that time two vehicles were broken into and items were stolen from each.

One male witness attempted to apprehend the individuals responsible — a male and a female — and was subsequently assaulted by one of the accused with a substance believed to be bear spray.

The male witness received injuries believed to be minor and did not require the assistance of the paramedics.

The male suspect is described as approximately 5’11” with a thin build. At the time of the offence he was described as wearing a red Ecko t-shirt, blue jeans and darker running-style sneakers.

The female suspect is described as having brown hair.

The suspects fled the area on foot towards the walking trails and wooded area near the boathouse.

The RNC is also issuing a reminder that any person who is in possession of stolen property can be charged criminally under the Criminal Code of Canada.
