RNC patrol car
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Accident Investigation Section is seeking the assistance of the public in relation to a fatal motor vehicle collision in the area of Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road in St. John’s Saturday.
Around 8:40 p.m., officers from RNC patrol services along with paramedics from Eastern Health and firefighters from St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the Outer Ring Road in area of the intersection of Major’s Path and Portugal Cove Road.
A passenger of one of the vehicles involved succumbed to their injuries, but the RNC says, at the request of the family no further details regarding the deceased will be provided at this time.
It is believed a pickup truck was in the left turning lane from Portugal Cove Road into Airport Heights Drive and that driver may have witnessed the collision and have additional valuable information to assist the RNC Accident Investigation Section.
The RNC is asking that this individual contact police. RNC Accident Investigators are also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the immediate area to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
