Police are on the lookout for two guns stolen from a home in Paradise early Saturday morning.
According to a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary news release, a break-in most likely occurred at a home on Skeffington Place some time between 2:45 a.m. and 9:50 a.m. Saturday. A shotgun and a rifle were reported missing.
“The RNC is concerned about the types of items stolen and consider their potential availability on the street to be a public safety concern,” it said in the release.
The 16-gauge Cooey shotgun has a 36” barrel and a wooden stock with a tan colour. It was not in a carrying case at the time of the theft, according to police.
The 7.62 spring loaded, bolt action rifle has a wooden stock with a tan colour and a leather strap. It was in a plastic carrying case. Its brand name is not known.
The RNC said that no ammunition was stolen from the home.
Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Anonymous tips can be provided online at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
