Police were on the scene Tuesday of a fire that happened at Big Bonne Bay Pond. A Whitewash Road cabin caught fire at around noon Tuesday and sources say the area could only be reached by a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
The RCMP said today the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been unable to determine the cause and manner of the deaths of three people who died at a cabin that was levelled by fire earlier this month near Deer Lake on the province’s west coast.
The remains of a 56-year-old Gillams man, along with a 50-year-old woman and her son, both from Trout River, were found in the debris of the cabin around noon Aug. 6.
The cabin was on Whitewash Road at Big Bonne Bay Pond. It is approximately 18 kilometres from Highway 430 and is accessible only by an off-road vehicle.
The RCMP said police will not be releasing the names of the victims at the request of the families.
The RCMP is continuing its investigation into the deaths.
