Transportation Minister Paul Davis
Individual inspection reports for the province’s bridges have been posted online, the provincial Department of Transportation and Works said today.
A news release notes the inspections are conducted on a biannual basis by the department.
“Our department has received requests for bridge inspection reports in the past from media representatives, municipalities and individual residents,” said Minister Paul Davis.
The reports are presented individually by bridge name and listed alphabetically by region. Levels of assessment for bridge structures include: Good, Fair, Poor, or Unsafe.
Bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects are prioritized based on these inspections. Reports on inspections conducted between June 2012 and July 2013 can be viewed at: www.tw.gov.nl.ca/BridgeInspections/
The Department of Transportation and Works is responsible for the construction and maintenance of provincial bridges. The current bridge inventory is approximately 1,134 structures, which includes bridges and culverts larger than three metres wide. All future biannual reports conducted will be added to the online listing.
