Police in St. John’s are investigating what it calls “suspicious activity” outside a Scotiabank Friday afternoon.

Const. Talia Murphy of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said the incident was initially called in by employees at the bank as an attempted robbery.

Two men were reportedly near a rear entrance to the building that was locked. Murphy said an alarm was triggered. Staff subsequently locked the building.

Murphy said neither man gained entry to the bank. A sign posted in the main entrance said it was closed until further notice. RNC officers were at the bank Friday to investigate the incident.
