UPDATE: RNC releases more details on stabbing, robbery in St. John's

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating a stabbing and robbery in the centre of St. John's Sunday afternoon.

According to police, a 26-year-old man was robbed and stabbed after parking his vehicle in the Power Street area around 5:30 p.m.

He was treated at the Health Sciences Centre and later released. The RNC says the man’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect involved is described as a man in his late 20s, between five feet, nine inches and six feet tall and 160 pounds. He is also described as having a shaved head, scruff and a teardrop tattoo on his face. At the time of the offence, the RNC says the perpetrator was dressed in a grey hoodie, blue jeans, tan- coloured work boots, and a baseball cap with dark bib.

A 43-year-old woman was also arrested on the weekend for assault with a weapon and numerous breaches of court orders.

That arrest stemmed from a domestic disturbance in the Kilbride area. The suspect is currently being held at the St. John's lockup.

He was treated at the Health Sciences Centre and later released.

The RNC says the suspect involved is a man in his late 20. No arrests have been made at this time.

 A 43-year-old woman was also arrested on the weekend for assault with a weapon and numerous breaches of court orders.

    Yes Bill, Hamilton Street at Power is about a 5 or 6 min walk to dt.

    There are violent crimes occuring in this city on a daily basis. Armed robberies, mugging, random stabbing, assaults.....not to mention propery crime and drunk drivers. Good thing we live in a safe city right Chief? Mabye the police should bring in some outside help. They don't seem to have anythign under control here.
