Cause of downtown fire accidental: RNC investigators

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) fire investigators believe the cause of a fire at the intersection of Bates Hill and Duckworth Street in downtown St. John’s last Wednesday was accidental.

In a news release today, the RNC said its General Investigation Unit has concluded its investigation into the fire and there is no information to indicate suspicious activity.

Three attached structures, which housed several businesses and residential units were destroyed as a result of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
