Police and military personnel are attempting to safely remove a military ordnance from a Mount Pearl neighbourhood.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the discovery was made Monday near Aspen Wood Place. Residents were evacuated from homes in the area as a precautionary measure, though the RNC said, “(t)here is no immediate public safety concern at this time.”
A military ordnance is defined as military supplies that can include weapons and ammunition, amongst other items. The RNC explosive disposal unit and the Canadian Forces explosive ordnance disposal personnel were working together to safely remove the device.
The RNC specified that it was not responding to a bomb threat.
