A two-vehicle collision along the main road passing through the Trinity Bay South community of New Chelsea forced police to re-route traffic for several hours Monday evening.
According to Trinity Conception RCMP, the accident occurred when a tractor trailer transporting shrimp lost control on a steep hill and collided with a small car. Police said both drivers were taken to hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries. They were later released.
Route 80 was closed to traffic in New Chelsea as of 6:30 p.m. so the vehicles could be removed from the accident scene. Police estimated the road would reopen by 9:30 p.m.
