Why should Cleary be the first Newfoundlander to figure out that the NHL is a business? Frig da money, I'll play 'ockey fer nuttin'!!

Stupid move, not well thought out and short sighted. Hope he has a stellar year cause if not this will be his last. Nobody wants a guy who agrees to a contract and backs out especially one as lucrative as Philly's offer. Nice to see he is a good family man but what happens next year when he has no contract and can't get one. This decision was short sighted on his part and if he was really looking after his family he should have takeh the $8.25 million for 3 yeras and with that amount of salary he could have had a family home in Philly too. Thousands of NLers are workig away from their families in Alberta, Offshore and other places around the world because they have to but they could all make the same excuse as Cleary. He should have looked after the security of his family for 3 years not 1. TOO BAD
